Where in Metro Manila can one enrol to take up informal art lessons, particularly painting?
I feel like learning something new, and maybe dabble into painting. I like impressionism especially. I am awed by works of Monet, Gauguin, Matisse etc.
I don't know anyone here in Philippines who teaches painting for money except those profs in fine art, most don't even do live demos. Galleries sometimes hold free workshops, so I guess you should keep an eye on local galleries.
I'm a new oil painter too. What I did was I learned the basics on the net, bought art materials and started painting. I also contacted a painter and went to his studio to see him paint, I only went for 2 times and that's it. Then I joined a painting group, I get more and more knowledge along the way, we are now exhibiting. Oil painting is a lifetime process if you're serious but if you just want to plainly paint as a hobby, you can learn the technical stuff on the net and just paint. Oh yeah, since you're not specific about the medium, you can try acrylics, no fumes, no oils, wash and work with water.
