Is it illegal to record someone's actions on a digital camera?

I was in art class, and had a digital camera, and I took it out and recorded about five minutes of my classmate's actions (she wasn't saying much; we were drawing) - but is it illegal to do something like that, if I didn't tell her I was recording?

Illegal? Depends on what you do with it now that you have it. Sell it to the news, and you have invaded someones privacy. Put it on your blog, perhaps the same thing. Erase it, no harm. Keep it but only look at it yourself, no problem. Unless the school has a rule in effect about classroom activities and privacy. Then their rules would apply.
