Help. Oil painting (art) trying to get purple mixing red and blue, won't work.?
I can only get different shades of brown when I mix blue and red no matter how I vary the ratio. This is for an art project using oil paints from the tubes.
I'm using cadium red and french ultramarine blue.

Use half and half of each color-- but not a ton-- then a big glob of white. this should lighten it up as long and create purple as you don't use too much of either blue or red.
