What is the best way to remove black paint from victorian fireplaces?
I want to take mine back to the metal.
i have done this myself i work in the motor trade and used a 2pack paint stripper with a wire brush lightly scuff paint then with an old paint brush a liberal coat of the paintstripper leave for 30 - 40 min and paint should come off for patterns in metal wire wool or metal suede brush will remove most of this . be sure to wear safety goggle and gloves also old clothes you dont mind ruining its a bit of a chore but worth it in the end with a coat of metal blackener buffed in you will be able to look at the fireplace and think thats all my work
