Do u need to do another coat when u painting pine wood with stain?
Am painting a bed that is made out of pine wood its over ten years old and been painted before with stain.
I have sanded it back but i feel it might need a second coat as it meant to a simi- glosss but it looks like it dull and feels rough.
Any suggestions please help!!!!!!11
Yes u would as i done some staining work b4 and found the struction did say two coats are required to get the effect u need.
If ur wood that u r working on is been over tens yrs old and prepainted before than that could give a slighter different affect as even that u have sanded the paper it back and if it came up clean and looks like its back at it original wood that doesn't mean thats the case as if stain and i mean good quality stain been used and sprayed on and been on for more than ten years the stain has set in the wood. and that could give u a different effect.
But if u do another coat than i suggest to put on lightly and u should wait for mor than 24 hr to it to dryt and settle. and give it a light sand back beforehand with a fine grit sandpaper.
It also depend what brand of stain u r using???? If its like wattles than its good quality.......
