It's time for Oldies Battle of the Bands 5?

Spirit vs. Steppenwolf
Creedence Clearwater Revival vs.Canned Heat
The Fuggs vs Country Joe and the Fish
Vanilla Fudge vs Spencer Davis Group
Buffalo Springfield vs Traffic
Frank Zappa and the Mothers vs Capt. Beefheart and the Magic Band
Taj Mahal vs Richie Havens
and finally
Ted Nugent and the Amboy Dukes vs The Jimi Hendrix Experience

We are at the legendary Fillmore wes because only the great Phil Graham could handle a show this big with all this west coast psychedelic power, and Liquid Lens and his gang are here to. Owsley has got ever body wired on a special purple haze and many are looking for a certain over the top guitarist loud mouth to get his comeuppance from the real master. The crowd is wired and on edge and the doors are opening so come on in the vibe is wild and yet so groovie.

Hi there Mason ....... I'm only 26 years old and YES (The Filmore was and is the most underrated event in music history) , I wish I lived those days .... ;(

***O.K. the choices are based on my own taste :

[1] Spirit Vs Steppenwolf = Steppenwolf . Even though Spirit was the earlier power , yet "Don't Step On The Grass (Sam)" will win it for Steppenwolf .

[2] C.C.R. Vs Canned Heat = C.C.R. . Of course The Blind Owl and his gang are great students of the Blues , yet C.C.R. are just difficult to touch with their Roots , Country + Rock notes .

[3] The Fuggs Vs Country Joe & The Fish = pitty I didn't listen to them both "never had the chance" but based on popularity among Rockers , Country Joe & The Fish would win .

[4] Vanilla Fudge Vs Spencer Davis Group = Difficult to state , but I'll say Vanilla Fudge since S. D. Group was more of a doomed Hits band even though I'm a sucker for Steve Winwood's Rock .

[5] Buffalo Springfield Vs Traffic = Traffic (I know many worship Neil's work with any band) , but Traffic is my all time favorite Steve Winwood's band .

[6] Frank Zappa & The Mothers Vs Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band = Hmmm , I'll say Frank Zappa & The Mothers though I'm not qualified to judge both bands (I didn't listen to enough albums) . Frank & his gang ranged from Experimental to Progressive to Jazz ...etc. and that gotta count . Captain Beefheart is an earlier Rock hero , yet his music is not for any ear .

[7] Taj Mahal Vs Richie Havens = I didn't listen to enough of them and I know Taj had more influence on music , yet I'll say Richie because of his voice .

[8] The Amboy Dukes Vs The J. H. Experience = O.K. I like Ted's early Psychedlia with The Amboy Dukes but there is no way anyone touches Jimi and his fellow aliens NO WAY MAN . Jimi forever .
