Anyone know of any historically verifiable references to the symbol called the "Delphian Epsilon"?

I had a client ask me about this "symbol of Apollo". I have never heard of it before, nor have any of my contacts or professors ever heard of it. The only data available online seems to be a regurgitation of this article:

http://-of-.com/wordpress/2008/04/10/sun-of-vergina-a-greek-symbol/

Which claims it is a "famous Greek symbol". I am voting bunk on this one, and would write it off but it looks so familiar, and I just cannot place it. Much like the Pisces symbol with a line dividing it.

Here is the symbol in question:

I minored in classics first time around and the second time I did college I majored in archaeology, and I think this is the first I've seen it.

Obviously it's not "so famous" that they mentioned it in any of my classes.
