Is it okay to hand wash a silk scarf?
I bought a silk scarf at a secondhand store the other day and the tag said that it's dry clean only. I'm not about to pay to get it dry cleaned, but I'd like to wash it because it's secondhand and I'm weird like that. Can I wash it in my sink with a little Woolite?
You can certainly wash it. Silk washes very well, but has to be ironed to look good. It's best for delicates to hand wash as you say, and arrange over a towel on a hanger to drip dry. Don't ring too much.
Once dry, iron to a beautiful finish. If you iron it ever so slightly damp, you won't need to spray or steam much.
