Bell Helicopter, Zip Aviation Announce New Addition to Fleet and Expanded Service From 30th Street in Manhattan

Zip Aviation has taken delivery of its first Bell Helicopter 206L Long Ranger and plans

to use the helicopter for charter service from Manhattan's West 30th Street

Heliport. This will be the first time for a Bell helicopter to be flown from the 30th St.

Heliport.

Itai Shoshani, owner of Zip Aviation stated, "We are very excited about the

opportunities of operating out of this heliport and know we have the right product for

the market. Each 206L has a great cabin area, smooth ride and excellent visibility.

This Bell helicopter allows realization of what I envision for my company; an All

Martial Arts: What Are They?

Martial arts refers to any specific way of defending oneself. It is very hard to classify martial arts, since they have existed as long as humanity has been around. The average person thinks of Asian martial arts, such as taekwondo or karate. That is because the arts styles have been most thoroughly evolved and documented in Asia, with more specific moves and disciplines associated with each region.

If you want to get started with martial arts, it's a good idea to become familiar with all of the possibilities. You may find that you want to go for a specific martial art because it fits your abilities better.

The first type of martial arts deals mainly with striking with the legs or arms. Wing Chun is a classic Chinese form of martial arts, and deals mainly with fist strikes., as well as some weaponry. Muay Thai is perhaps the most brutal type of martial arts, as you will see if you watch any of the modern professional competitions on TV. Its strikes are characterized by being fast, brutal, and made by the 2 hardest parts of the body - the elbows and the knees. Judo is extremely competitive, with the focus being to subdue the opponent right away, by using throws, holds, and chokes. It is of Japanese origin, and is another martial art with a huge following in the western world. Jujutsu is probably the most technical martial art, with great attention given to the distribution of force when blows are made.

Finally, there are many more types of martial arts that aren't about close combat. There are forms that focus on weaponry, such as kendo and fencing. There are still others that are not even violent, but more introspective. They focus on the health and spirit of the person. These styles have had influences on western cultures as well, from Chinese medicine to acupuncture. Martial arts can be used for many things, from self defense to health. So look into it, and see if you could stand to benefit from learning an art.

Show Opens Window on Asian Subtlety

Asian-themed performances like NTDTV’s Chinese New Year Spectacular offer an entirely new experience for many Westerners, partly because they are so different from the more typical, narrative-driven, performing art forms. They ask something different from the audience – a slight shift in expectations, a shift in sensibility.

The appreciation for what is implied rather than what is in plain sight sets Asian art apart from Western art. Traditional Chinese dance, for example, is less precise and strict in form than its Western counterpart, ballet. It is because it attempts to evoke a different sort of feeling. Like a glass of claret with its subtle undertones, this kind of dance leaves room for the imagination while leaving a lasting impression.

The following story may help shed some light on the mystery:

Once there was an art dealer who had a painting that depicted a young farm boy leading a horse across a bridge. The boy was facing the horse, his body leaning back, and he looked like he was exerting great effort. One day a buyer came in and had to have this painting. However, he didn’t have enough money on him to buy this rather expensive artwork right away. So he asked the dealer to hold the painting for him while he went home to get the funds. As the seller took the painting down, he noticed it was missing the rope the boy should have been using to lead the horse. Without much thought, he picked up an ink brush and added a rope to fix this apparent flaw in the painting. When the buyer came back and saw the new rope, he was terribly upset. He told the dealer: “I was only willing to spend so much on this painting because of the rope that wasn’t seen but could still be felt!”

The more something is described in a concrete way, the smaller the range it covers. For example, the phrase “hot water” describes not only water but its temperature, so although “hot water” is more specific than “water,” it precludes “warm water,” “cold water,” and other kinds of water and is therefore more limited. Perhaps this is why so much of Chinese art seems to speak in generalities. Ink landscape paintings with their broad brush strokes and wide swaths intentionally left blank are particularly hard for the Western eye to grasp. These paintings can often seem vague and unclear, but to the discerning viewer, each brush stroke speaks volumes.

The same holds for the Chinese language -- known for being extraordinarily concise and yet also rich and descriptive precisely because it is so succinct. Indeed, many Chinese words and proverbs contain concepts that could take paragraphs to explain in another language.

The NTDTV holiday shows seem to have struck a balance between the more refined traditional dance forms and the simple pleasures of rousing music, impressive large scale dances with dozens of dancers moving in synch, and, of course, gorgeous costumes and backdrops. The shows offer enough new flavors to be intriguing without being overly foreign. The more subtle elements may be lost on many in the audience, but their presence nonetheless enriches the entire performance for everyone. Ultimately, stories of grace and virtue told through song and dance will speak to us all forever.

Help. Oil painting (art) trying to get purple mixing red and blue, won't work.?

I can only get different shades of brown when I mix blue and red no matter how I vary the ratio. This is for an art project using oil paints from the tubes.
I'm using cadium red and french ultramarine blue.

Use half and half of each color-- but not a ton-- then a big glob of white. this should lighten it up as long and create purple as you don't use too much of either blue or red.

What's the best and cheapest way to ship a pastel artwork?

This is for an assignment. My answer is because art is unique and rare. It is a part of culture and history. There is only one original painting/sculpture/photograph. And if it is stolen, there won't be a second one. This is also the reason why art theft is so costly.

I think you have the right opinion. Art is unique and rare. Artist's techniques have changed over time and a piece of art can capture the transition from one style to the next or the time period when an advancement occurred. Art also "speaks" to people and is sometimes the artists interpretation of an event happening at the time.

What do I need to slump/melt down wine bottles?

I have saved a lot of bottles that I personally drank my blues away to. And I want to take that ugliness and melt it into inspirational beauty. I have been working on self-healing through this idea for the past three years. I know I need a kiln but I have no knowledge of the art field.

You need a furnace; you couldn't possibly do it at home (the glass needs to be around 1600 degrees)...Try a local art center, if there's one nearby...I know my city has an art center that has glassblowing classes and would be able to give info for this sort of thing...
