Bell Helicopter, Zip Aviation Announce New Addition to Fleet and Expanded Service From 30th Street in Manhattan

Zip Aviation has taken delivery of its first Bell Helicopter 206L Long Ranger and plans

to use the helicopter for charter service from Manhattan's West 30th Street

Heliport. This will be the first time for a Bell helicopter to be flown from the 30th St.

Heliport.

Itai Shoshani, owner of Zip Aviation stated, "We are very excited about the

opportunities of operating out of this heliport and know we have the right product for

the market. Each 206L has a great cabin area, smooth ride and excellent visibility.

This Bell helicopter allows realization of what I envision for my company; an All

About Artist Jin Shangyi:

Jin Shangyi, one of representatives of China’s contemporary oil painting artists, who was born in December 1934 in Jiaozuo, Henan province, China. In 1953 graduated from the Painting Department at the Central Academy of Fine Arts and continued his post-graduate study, In 1955 Jin Shangyi went to Soviet and entered into the oil painting training class held by the former Soviet Union artist Maksimov to learn oil painting.

Now Jin Shangyi is acted as Chairman of the Chinese Artists Association, and professor of Central Academy of Fine Arts. Former president of Central Academy of Fine Arts and enjoy special government allowances.

Jin Shangyi had taken charge of the teaching job at the first oil painting studio in the Central Academy of Fine Arts, whose artistic practice and art ideas, has influenced much on a large number of oil painting artists and caused a hot trend of absorbing nutrition from classicism in China since the mid-80’s.

Art Career: Jin Shangyi oil painting creations was take the historical themes of Chinese revolution as a starting point, during the nearly 20 years of before the reform and opening-up, he has created a large number of historical themed oil paintings, such as “Step on the Muztag Ata”, “December Conference “, “Long March” and so on, these works fully demonstrated the art talent of the artist, and people become familiar with Jin Shangyi. But in terms of Jin Shangyi, the creative practice of history paintings is just one of important links which urged him to begin his creation of portrait painting.

In the process of painting history oil paintings, Jin Shangyi gradually found the most interested things are those figures per se who showed unique vitality and personality, which make his thinking about the history of switched to the explore of the life and the human’s spiritual world. He inclined much and much to use simple compositions, as little as possible figures to reflect the broad social life, gradually this type of natural development sense become clearer and clearer, and ultimately he aimed to portrait painting as his main creative direction.

Representive Works: Jin Shangyi oil painting work “Northland Scenery” was collected by the Revolutionary Museum; “Youth”, “Sculptor”, “Thinking” were on display on the “The 3rd Oil Painting Research Exhibition”, as well as been collected by the National Art Museum of China; Oil painting “Explore” in on display on the “Beijing City Oil Painting Exhibition”, and won a second prize of outstanding works; Oil painting “Violinist ” was on display on the “Teacher Works of Central Academy of Fine Arts Teacher Works Exhibition” held in Hong Kong, and collected by a Singapore collector; Oil painting “Artist Huang Yongyu” was on display on a thematic art exhibition that organized by “Guangming Daily”, and won an Outstanding Award, and became a private collection; Oil painting “Memories” was on display on the USA Connecticut Art Exhibition, and turn to a private collection; Oil painting “Nature’s Song”, “Tajik Bride” were collected by Chinese National Art Gallery.

Oil painting “Qu Qiaobai” was admitted to participate the 6th National Art Exhibition and won a silver award, and was collected by the Chinese National Art Gallery; In 1986 Creation “Sun Yat-sen” won the first prize for the best best stamp design in the country, and collected by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications.

Comparison Of Theo And Vincent Van Gogh And William And Gabriel Rossetti

Theo Van Gogh was the younger brother of Vincent Van Gogh, and William Rossetti was the younger brother of Gabriel Dante Rossetti. Both became successful in their own right. William Rossetti became a leading literary critic in his day while pursuing a career at the Inland Revenue and Theo Van Gogh was an art dealer. Both championed their brother's work and that of other unknown artists.

William's family early on decided that Gabriel was meant to be a painter and so their second son William was sent out to work at the age of fifteen. He was sacrificed so that his brother might have opportunities. While working for the Inland Revenue he also developed a career in literary and art criticism. William attributed Gabriel with having encouraged his literary career.

If William had not worked for the Inland Revenue presumably his output would have been greater. Even so his output was phenomenal even when he was working full time and even at times of family crisis: coping with his wife's tuberculosis, his children had chickenpox, his mother in decline and his own deafness.

What enabled him to take a secondary role? He had a tendency to hero worship and set about writing about his hero's achievements and establishing their reputation with the public. He was also good at spotting talent and encouraging it eg Walt Whitman, the poet. He was called as an expert witness to give a view on Whistler's painting in the court case between Ruskin and Whistler and later he would value works of art for the Inland Revenue for tax purposes.

Theo, like William, also went out to work at the age of 15. He joined the same arts dealers as his brother Vincent. Whereas Vincent's career at the art gallery would come to an abrupt end Theo's career would progress. He started at the bottom and worked his way up.

The family, including Theo were aggrieved that Vincent had dropped out and failed to take up another profession, especially as he was the one who had had received an education. However when Vincent decided to devote his life to art the brothers were able to rebuild their relationship based on a common interest. They were able to share their thoughts on art and Theo began to support Vincent by giving him one hundred francs a month which he continued to do for the rest of Vincent's life. In fact it was his commitment to Vincent and indeed to the other members of his family which prevent him taking a risk and setting up on his own. As anyone who has started their own business knows it is a big step to give up a steady income.

The letters between the Theo and Vincent were exhibited at the Royal Academy in 2010. One of Vincent's last letters to Theo indicated that he was concerned about what they would live on in the future and about being too much of a burden to his family. Academics debate whether the possibility that Theo might leave his employers and a steady income may have been a factor in Vincent's suicide. They question why Theo didn't mention in a letter to his brother dated 22 July his decision not to leave the house of Goupil, the art dealers he worked for. It is also possible that Vincent realised his brother was very ill.

Theo himself died six months after Vincent from syphilis (not at the time diagnosed as syphilis). After his death Theo's wife Johanna carried on promoting Vincent's work. She decorated a small boarding house with his canvases and organised some exhibitions. Her son continued after she died. Theo had collected the work of Corot, Daubigny, Gauguin, Manet, Millet, Monticellis, Pissaros and Toulouse Lautrec. He and Vincent had traded paintings with many artists.

There are interesting parallels between the careers of the two men.

Early Years

Vincent Willem van Gogh was born March 30, 1853, in Zundert, a small village in the Netherlands, to Anna Cornelia Carbentus and Theodorus van Gogh. He had two younger brothers, Theodorus, who became particularly important in his life, and Cor, as well as three sisters, named Elizabeth, Anna and Wil. His father was a minister of the Dutch Reform Church.

After an unsuccessful run as an art dealer in Great Britain, Vincent found himself turned towards religion, and pursued a life as a missionary for several years. Eventually, giving into pressure from his family, he joined his parents in Etten in the Netherlands. He was quickly overcome by wanderlust, however, and soon left again to pursue his art, scrapping by a meager existence as he traveled from place to place. During this time he began to develop the ill health that would plague him for the rest of his life.

Paris and After

In 1886 Vincent joined his brother Theo in Paris, with whom he had maintained a steady correspondence throughout his earlier life. It was here that he seriously committed himself to art, and studied at the studio of Fernand Cormon, and encountered Impressionistic artists such as Gaugin, Monet, and Pissarro. Vincent's personally style underwent a drastic change at this time, turning away from the darker palette of his earlier work such as The Potato Eaters. Instead, he began to employ the short, thick brushstrokes, and bright, vivid colors for which he is most well known today. It was only then, in the last four years of his life, that he created the majority of his body of work, over 200 paintings.

Eventually, he left Paris for Arles, where he hoped to found an art school. He was eventually joined by Gaugin, but the two increasingly quareled. During an especially tense moment, Vincent cut off a portion of his left ear with a razor blade. Suffering increasingly ill mental and physical health, he was confined to an asylum in Saint-Remy for treatment, where he was visited by his brother Theo. There, some of his work became characterized by bold whorls and waves, including one of his most famous paintings, The Starry Night.

Death

In May of 1890, Vincent left Saint-Remy and moved to Auvers-sur-Oise. There he was cared for by one Dr. Gachet, who became the subject of another of van Gogh's most revered pieces, Portrait of Dr. Gachet. His depression worsened, and on July 27, 1890, he shot himself in the chest. He died two days later, at the age of 37. His last words, as reported by his brother Theo, who stayed by his deathbed, were "La tristesse durera toujours" (French for "The sadness will last forever"). During his brief career, Vincent had only sold one painting, The Red Vineyard, and traded one other as a substitute for rent payment.

Legacy

Vincent van Gogh, despite his lack of success during his own lifetime, had gone on to be one of the most influential painters of all time. While partially fuelled by the publishing of his correspondence with Theo, which created his image of a tormented artists dedicated to his passion, the vibrancy and texture of his work influenced the aesthetic of many painters after him. His paintings are incredibly popular among collectors; one of the two versions of Portrait of Dr. Gachet was sold in 1990 $82.5 million, at the time the highest price ever for a single painting. Today, van Gogh and his work represents one of the most recognized and influential icons of art.

The Reason Birds Can Fly

No doubt many bird lovers will be surprised to find out that many birds in the wild prefer to be on the ground, rather than the sky. And, in regions of the world where they are not threatened by predators, they actually spend most of their time on the ground.

As a matter of fact, if you go to places around the globe where birds have had no serious predators for centuries, you will very often find that some of the birds have evolved to where they either have no wings or they have wings that are almost useless in flight. This is because they no longer need the ability to fly to escape danger.

Because of this, they feel extremely at ease simply remaining on on the ground. After all, this is where they find most of their food. A perfect example of this is the well known ostrich which, over the years, has lost the ability to fly.

Today, among experts, it is widely accepted that dinosaurs are the ancestors of today's birds. Originally, smaller sized dinosaurs lived on the ground. Here they were at a disadvantage as they were forced to compete for food and survival over their larger cousins. Most of these smaller dinosaurs could not compete effectively and died out.

But others did survive. They evolved. Over the centuries they evolved wings. And with the wings came both the ability to effectively escape larger predators and to find easier sources of food where their larger brethren could not go. The acquisition of flight is what enabled many of these smaller dinosaurs to survive.

Over the centuries, birds have evolved certain evolutionary traits that allowed them to fly whereas mammals did not evolve these traits. One of them is that birds are almost always lighter in weight than comparatively sized mammals. If you were to compare just about any bird to a similarly sized earthbound mammal, you will discover that it probably weighs from two to four times less than the mammal. This is primarily due to its skeletal system which usually consists of hollow bones. The hollow bones are supported by internal struts which make them amazingly powerful.

Not only that, but a very large part of an average bird's body consists of air. Birds possess air sacs all through their bodies which, in addition to being great weight saving devices, allow them to utilize oxygen many times more efficiently than most mammals can.

Although, through the centuries, birds have evolved with many other weight saving features, for the most part, it is this lightness of weight that enables them to easily launch themselves into the air and stay aloft.

And, lastly, we come to the winds. Wings that have improved through evolution to be the perfect constructs that enable then to easily glide through the air with little or no turbulence.

Tips for Your Pet Birds First Month Home

For any new pet moving to a new home can be a very traumatic experience and in some cases even more so for a pet bird. Many times if bird was hand fed as a baby it may have stronger attachments then other birds. However if you take the time setting up your birds new environment properly with some extra care, it will a bit easier for your pet bird to make the adjustment to it's new home.

One of the most important things you should first do when you bring your new bird home is to place its cage in an area that does not have an over abundance of activity or confusion. Even though we are trying to make sure our new friend doesn't feel like he is caught up in the middle of all the household action. We also want to make sure that he does not feel all alone by putting him in some unused room by him self. Ideally you want to find a spot in your home where he can still interact with you, but there won't be constant loud noises or lots of sudden movements that can continually startle him.

In situations where you already have another bird in your home, it would be best to segregate your new arrival for about thirty days. The reason you want to do this is to help ensure that if your new bird has an infectious disease, you won't infect your original bird. When creating a quarantine for your bird, it would be best to keep him on floor in a completely different room of the house. Also make sure to keep their food and water dishes apart and do not interchange them even after washing. If your home has a central air conditioning system, you may have difficulty being able to ensure a true quarantine. Since these kinds of air conditioning system employ air duct systems which carry the air from one room to other rooms in the house. Regardless it is still a good idea to quarantine the new bird than immediately putting exposing him to your original pet even if you have air ducts.

You should also make sure that any new bird you bring home is in good health. So be sure to take him to your local avian veterinarian for a general check up. Your veterinarian will be able to check and make sure that your new pet bird is free of any contagious diseases, worms or bacterial infections. This is even more important in cases were you have a hand fed baby bird, the reason being is that if the bird wasn't properly hand fed it is at a higher risk for having a bacterial infection.

When ever you bring a new bird home you should closely monitor their eating habits during their initial adjustment period. If you notice that your bird doesn't seem to be eating at all during the initial twenty four hours, you should try and offer him some spray millet. Spray millet is pretty much a dessert for birds. Another option is to offer him a whole grain cereal which may coax a frightened bird into eating. If you just brought home a newly weaned baby bird and he is not eating and is also making various squalling noises, your new bird may have regressed some and will need to be hand fed slightly longer. In these situations call your breeder for assistance.

If for some reason you cannot get in contact with your breeder, odds are you can buy some hand feeding formula from your local pet shop. To use the formula simply mix up a tiny quantity of the hand feeding formula until it reaches a consistency close to that of pudding. Then offer some of the mixture to your bird by putting some of the formula on a plastic spoon. If all is well he should eat it right off the spoon.

Lastly, you should not be afraid to interact with your new pet bird, just make sure you don't get out of hand and overdo it. At first you should only try to work with him for 10 minutes at a time and no more. If he continually flies away and you notice your self having to chase and catch him, Just put him away back in his cage for a bit until he starts to calm down. Every time you chase and catch your bird it cause him some stress, which is something we are trying to minimize for our new friend.

Higher expenses drive factories inland

Escalating production costs in China's coastal manufacturing hubs are pushing some suppliers to relocate to the central and western provinces.

The Pearl and Yangtze River Delta regions may soon lose their monopoly over China's export manufacturing sector. Rising costs and the worsening labor shortage are driving companies in these coastal areas to relocate production facilities to the interior.

Although the shift started mid-2004, the trend gained pace in 2007, when rapid economic growth in the west surpassed that in the east. Companies leaving Guangdong, Zhejiang and other coastal provinces are now setting up new production bases in Hunan, Jiangxi, Anhui, Hubei, Shanxi and Sichuan to take advantage of lower worker and land expenditure, among other benefits.

The cost of labor in Tianmen, Hubei province, for instance, is about 50 percent lower than in coastal regions. Electricity and land costs are 20 to 30 percent less.

Such factors are what convinced Full River (Hong Kong) Ltd to relocate its manufacturing facilities from Shenzhen in Guangdong province to Liling in Hunan. The headquarters, R&D and marketing departments remain in Shenzhen.

The monthly minimum wage in the inland city is 500 yuan ($75), while factory rental is about 8 yuan ($1.17) per square meter. In areas outside Shenzhen's special economic zone, the rates stand at 900 yuan ($130) and 12 yuan ($1.75) per square meter. Expenditure is set to rise further, as a provincial mandate will lift worker salaries by as much as 21 percent beginning May 1.

Although Full River has seen its transportation expenses go up, overall costs are still about 5 percent lower. Material sourcing is unaffected, as the company's suppliers are mainly in Zhejiang, Sichuan and Hebei, all of which are geographically closer to Liling than Shenzhen.

Division of labor was one of the major objectives of Guangzhou Canttro Extension Electronics (Group) Co. Ltd, a maker of electronic connectors, when it established factories in Hangzhou in Zhejiang and Wuhan in Hubei.

This forward-looking company anticipates labor recruitment to get increasingly difficult in the future. Setting up production facilities outside of Guangdong would ensure the company's continuous development, as products will also be promoted in different provinces.

"It would be easier to recruit workers in small numbers," general manager Zheng Haibin said. "For example, employing 200 in Hangzhou and another 200 in Wuhan is much easier than finding 400 more workers in Guangdong, where we already have 500."

Managing a small factory is also easier than a large one. "The challenge ahead would be on keeping the loyalty of the workers," Zheng said. "The new employees would be provided with company shares to motivate them."

Guangzhou Canttro's factory in Hangzhou began operations in January 2010. The Wuhan factory is scheduled to open by May this year. The supplier is keeping its Guangzhou office for marketing, sales, R&D and for the manufacture of high-end products.

Local governments in inland provinces also provide incentives, including special land rates for investors that have a registered capital exceeding a certain amount. An initial expenditure of at least 50 million yuan ($7.3 million), for instance, can lower land purchase costs from 90,000 to 140,000 yuan ($13,200 to $20,500) per hectare to just 30,000 yuan ($4,400).

Because of this, most transplanted factories claim to incur general savings of between 5 and 30 percent. This comes even as material and transportation costs are currently higher than in the coastal region.

Labor-intensive plants lead migration

Many of the high-profile transfers involve foreign-invested businesses that carry out manual processes extensively.

Last year, Intel transferred its assembly and test plants from Shanghai to Chengdu in Sichuan. The move started in February and was completed in November 2009.

In October 2009, Taiwan-based Foxconn finalized a $1 billion contract to construct a manufacturing base also in Chengdu.

Hewlett-Packard and Taiwan's Quanta are establishing notebook computer production bases in Chongqing. HP's new factory opened in January 2010. Quanta signed a contract in that month as well.

In November 2009, Pfizer signed an agreement with the local government to set up an R&D center at the Wuhan National Bioindustry Base in Hubei. Attractive brainpower costs as well as tax and housing subsidies enticed the pharmaceutical company to establish facilities there. Although minimum wages are lower in Wuhan, the research skills and English proficiency of workers there are said to be on a par with Shanghai, where Pfizer has had an R&D center since 2005.

But locally owned enterprises are also in motion.

Since 2008, a number of garment, fashion and footwear makers in Guangdong have been redeploying their production lines to Hunan and Jiangxi, while keeping their headquarters, design centers, and marketing and sales offices in the coastal province.

In early 2009, nine garment makers moved their factories from Guangdong to Huaxian in Henan. More than 2,000 jobs were affected by the transfer.

Textile companies in Hong Kong and Jiangsu are investing about $150 million in a denim garments processing park in Chongqing. Some 30 companies will be based in the park over the next three years.

Domestic expansion also a motivation

Apart from lower costs, there are other factors driving factory migrations.

Some companies are merely attempting to be closer to their export destinations and save on freight costs. For instance, movers to Guangxi aim to shorten the distance to Vietnam, while investors in Xinjiang would be right at the door of Central Asia.

Further, the large domestic market in the western and interior regions is an enticement. The China government has invested heavily in these areas since 2000, and the rapid development there has been boosting domestic consumption. Retail sales in rural regions increased 0.2 percentage points faster than in urban areas in 2009.

New Zhongyuan Ceramics Co. Ltd supports the China government's campaign to develop the economy of Western China. The company has plants turning out a wide range of ceramic and sanitary ware in Guangdong, Sichuan, Jiangxi and Hunan.

The supplier is building two more factories in Faku, Liaoning province, and Dangyang in Hubei. Aside from benefiting from the lower labor and land costs at the new sites, the expansion enables New Zhongyuan to create a national network and further its aim of becoming the top ceramic manufacturer in China.

Coastal areas to remain major production bases

Despite the high-profile movements, the coastal provinces are not yet in danger of losing their economic power. Many small and midsize companies that have weighed the advantages and disadvantages of moving inland have decided that the coastal areas' strengths continue to offset the benefits of the interior. The supply chain inland is not yet as mature as in the Pearl and Yangtze River Delta regions. Some are turned off by the expenses for finding a suitable location, worker training and new sources of raw materials.

Fears of insufficient skilled labor likewise persist. In the gift industry, for instance, demand is seasonal so efficient employees are highly valued. It may take some years before the level of productivity in the interior can reach the same level as that in coastal regions.

Evergreen Garment (China) Co. Ltd, a maker of promotional shirts with 300 workers at its Shenzhen factory, said it is still easier to find skilled labor in the coastal than inland regions. "Most midsize and small factories think it is not necessary to move inland," general manager Zhang Bilian said. "Labor costs are rising all over the country."

The company also cited Shenzhen's well-established supply chain and proximity to Hong Kong that facilitate exports, R&D and participation in trade exhibitions.

The China government, however, is aware of the skill and efficiency disparity. The educational infrastructure in Western China has been undergoing an upgrade over the past few years in order to close the gap.

To ensure further that there would be sufficient skilled workers and engineers in the area, China's State Council has announced a full refund of tuition fees for college graduates who decide to work in central or western provinces. Various other incentives are given to migrant workers to convince them to head west instead of the south and the east.

Hong Kong-invested Orient Source Mfg (HK) Co. Ltd, a supplier of dolls and action figures, describes the labor cost in Huizhou, where it has a plant, to be more acceptable than in other Guangdong cities. The company appreciates the convenient information exchange and transportation link between Hong Kong and Huizhou as well.

Having been in Huizhou since 1986, Orient Source values its good relationship with the local government and local suppliers, which would be costly to rebuild in other areas.

In Shenzhen, among interviewed companies without immediate plans of relocating are RDI Technology (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd and GOSCAM/Gospell Smarthome Electronics Co. Ltd.

"Shenzhen is the most important production and export hub for many electric products," RDI assistant general manager Mike Yuan said. "With more than 30 years of development, Shenzhen has a well-established supply chain and industrial environment, and an efficient transportation network." The baby monitor company has 700 workers at its factory.

Doll maker Shantou City Chenghai Yinyu Industry Co. Ltd is also content with its current location. "The labor cost in Shantou is not as high as in the other cities of the Pearl River Delta region," sales manager Raymond Xu said. "Shantou is the largest production hub for plastic toys in China. Various companies from different backgrounds have set up base in the city for its great industrial environment and abundant supply chain."

Factory movements not all interior-bound

Shenzhen LYD Technology Co. Ltd is not yet ready to leave the coastal region, but it plans to transfer its baby monitor factory from Dongguan in Guangdong's southwest to Huizhou in the provincial center. The move is prompted mainly by the lower cost of labor in the central city. The minimum monthly wage in Huizhou is 670 yuan ($98), compared with 770 yuan ($113) in Dongguan.

Meanwhile, the transfer to Qingdao of Qingdao Cale Optoelectronics S&T Co. Ltd's factory from Shenzhen is part of a long-term strategy. Chairman Zhang Lianxin said Shenzhen's LED illumination industry is wedged at low-end manufacturing that the local government has no plans to advance.

Qingdao Cale makes high-end and midrange LED illumination products. Qingdao, known as the white goods center of the Bohai Bay Rim Economic Region, offered several incentives for the company to become one of the city's leading enterprises for LED illumination products. These included low land rent, an R&D fund grant, an investment subsidy and a purchase order worth more than $500,000.

The city's white goods industry gives Qingdao Cale access to an ample supply of skilled manual workers. The supplier can also take advantage of the hundreds of manufacturing service providers to which it can subcontract some processes whenever necessary.

Due to the mature supply chain in Foshan, manufacturers such as Foshan Vigorboom Ceramic Co. Ltd prefer to stay in the city or in the surrounding districts instead of migrating inland.

This Guangdong city has long been a production hub for ceramic tiles. But ceramic manufacturing has been a traditionally high-polluting industry, and the Foshan government has been reforming practices and pushing local makers to leave the city center in recent years. Foshan Vigorboom's factory is in Shunde, a district in the outskirts of the city. Enping Rungo Ceramics Co. Ltd, meanwhile, moved recently from Shunde to Enping in southwest Guangdong.

Local government efforts to develop environment-friendly industries, however, have resulted in diminished resources for ceramics manufacturing. News reports indicate that by 2011, 80 to 90 percent of Foshan's ceramic enterprises would have moved inland.

Tile and sanitary ware supplier Guangdong Dongpeng Ceramic Co. Ltd, for instance, is relocating from Foshan to Hunan. About 800 million yuan ($117 million) has been invested in the new factory, which will not be fully constructed until 2015. Once operational, the new plant will have an annual production capacity reaching 1.5 billion yuan ($220 million).
